The Big Read 2016

We are very proud of our 'Big Read' bench. We have named our unique bench The Artisan:Lord Regent. It is a combination of characters from old tales and modern stories.

During Art Week children worked with an artist to paint out Big Read bench. We called our bench The Artisan:Lord Regent, it looks amazing!

We had a Junior and a Staff Bake Off during Art Week. The entries were exceptional.

Our book bench competition was launched by an artist. Children enjoyed a fun assembly in the morning and a creative afternoon making pop up cards based on their favourite books.

As part of our Arts Award project we have been researching great artists like Vincent Van Gogh. We have studied some of Van Gogh's great pieces of art like; The Starry Night, Vase with Fifteen Sunflowers and his 1889 self-portrait. We have really enjoyed creating our own sketches based on his original creations.

Reading the The BFG (by Roahl Dahl) inspired us to make dream catchers and dream jars.

We will be taking part in a city wide arts project called The Big Read. Children will have the opportunity to paint our book shaped bench with designs inspired by their favourite characters or scenes from their favourite books or comics. Eventually, our decorated bench will be displayed as part of an art trail around the city, which can be visited during the summer holiday's.
