PE/Forest School

At Regents Park we offer a broad and balanced PE curriculum with a variety of sports, physical activities and outdoor and forest school. Pupils in Early Years and KS1 begin to develop the fundamentals and competence in physical skills both within the PE setting but also within a physically diverse and challenging forest school setting. As pupils then move on into KS2 they develop more transitional skills before developing specialist skills further and applying them in competitive situations. All pupils across the school have the opportunity to be active within their PE and Forest School lessons and break/lunch times.

The schemes of work we teach are carefully selected and regularly reviewed to ensure depth and breath of skills and sports which allows our pupils to be exposed to a wider range of physically activities and the ability to make positive choices to lead a healthy, active lifestyle.

We promote the importance of competence in swimming by teaching swimming throughout Year 3 as well as ensuring intensive lessons for other year groups. We also teach water and life saving techniques every year.

We recognise that PE and Forest School are not stand alone subjects and that by creating many links with other subjects and outside agencies we can increase motivation and participation for all pupils and their families.
